The Phone That Knew Tomorrow
小明在爷爷家发现了一个旧手机。
Xiaoming at grandpa home discover (PERF) one (M) old phone.
Xiaoming found an old phone at his grandpa’s house.
手机不能打电话，可是能开。
Phone cannot hit-phone, but can open.
It couldn’t make calls, but it could turn on.
他把手机带回了自己的房间。
He (BA) phone bring-back (PERF) own (POSS) room.
He took it back to his room.
晚上九点，手机突然响了。
Evening nine o'clock, phone suddenly ring (PERF).
At nine that evening, the phone suddenly buzzed.
上面有一句话：“明天下午会下雨。”
Top have one (M) sentence: "Tomorrow afternoon will rain."
There was a message: “It will rain tomorrow afternoon.”
小明觉得是玩笑。

可是第二天下午，真的下大雨了。

晚上，手机又响。

上面写：“明天小红会迟到。她坐错了公共汽车。”

第二天，小明在学校等小红。

She really was late — she’d taken the wrong bus.
小明明白了：手机告诉他的话，会真的发生。

Xiaoming realized: what the phone said really happened.
一个晚上，手机说：“明天爷爷会去医院。”
One (M) evening, phone says: "Tomorrow grandpa will go hospital."
One night, the phone said, “Tomorrow Grandpa will go to the hospital.”
小明跑去爷爷家。
Xiaoming run go grandpa home.
Xiaoming ran to his grandpa’s.
爷爷正在做饭，可是有点儿生病。
Grandpa right-now make-rice, but a-bit sick.
Grandpa was cooking, but he wasn’t feeling well.
小明说：“爷爷，我们一起去医院看看吧。”
Xiaoming says: "Grandpa, we together go hospital look (SUGG)."
Xiaoming said, “Grandpa, let’s go to the hospital just to check.”
医生检查后说：“来得真好。早一点儿就好。”
Doctor examine after says: "Come (DEG) really good. Early a-bit just good."
After the exam, the doctor said, “Good thing you came in early.”
那天晚上，手机不再响了。
That day evening, phone not again ring (PERF).
That night, the phone didn’t buzz again.
小明看了看手机，对自己说：“谢谢你。”

他把手机放回到爷爷家的桌子里。
He (BA) phone place return-to grandpa home (POSS) desk inside.
He put the phone back in the drawer at Grandpa’s.
