Riding the Bus
小红想去看朋友。
Xiaohong want go see friend.
Xiaohong wants to visit a friend.
朋友家很远。
Friend home very far.
Her friend lives far away.
她坐公共汽车去。
She sit public-bus go.
She takes the bus.
她到车站等。
She arrive station wait.
She gets to the stop and waits.
公共汽车来了，她上车，买了票。
Public-bus come (PERF), she board car, buy (PERF) ticket.
The bus arrives. She boards and buys a ticket.
车上很多人。
Car on very many people.
The bus is crowded.
一位老人没有位子。
One (M) old person not have seat.
An elderly man has no seat.
小红说：“您坐这里。”
Xiaohong says: "You(formal) sit here."
Xiaohong says, “Please, sit here.”
老人说：“真的谢谢你。”
Old person says: "Really thank you."
He says, “Thank you so much.”
小红说：“不客气。”
Xiaohong says: "Not be-polite."
Xiaohong says, “Of course.”
公共汽车走了三十分钟。
Public-bus go (PERF) thirty minute.
The bus rides for thirty minutes.
小红下车。
Xiaohong get-off car.
Xiaohong gets off.
朋友在车站等她。
Friend at station wait her.
Her friend is waiting at the stop.
朋友说：“你来了。”
Friend says: "You come (PERF)."
Her friend says, “You made it.”
小红笑了：“是。这条路真长，但是我喜欢看外面。”
Xiaohong laugh (PERF): "Yes. This (M) road really long, but I like look outside."
Xiaohong smiles, “Yes — long ride, but I like watching the view.”
她们一起回朋友家。
They together return friend home.
They head back to her friend’s place together.
