The Old Man Who Painted Rain
在这座大城市里，有一位很老的街头艺术家。

In this great city, there lived a very old street artist.
没人知道他的名字，大家只叫他“雨先生”。
No person know his (POSS) name, everyone only call him "rain mister".
No one knew his name. Everyone simply called him “Mr. Rain.”

But in the real world the rain never fell on those paintings — in the painted world, it always fell, and never stopped.
一个下午，一个小男孩站在一面墙前看那幅画。
One (M) afternoon, one (M) small boy stand at one (M) wall front look that (M) paint.
One afternoon, a small boy stood before one of those walls, gazing into the painting.
他刚刚搬到这个城市，没有朋友，妈妈每天都很忙。
He just-just move-to this (M) city, not have friend, mother every day all very busy.
He had just moved to the city. He had no friends, and his mother was busy every day.
他看着画里的小街、小灯、小雨，慢慢地走近。
He look (CONT) paint inside (POSS) small street, small lamp, small rain, slowly (ADV) walk-near.
He looked at the small street, the small lamps, the small rain inside the painting, and stepped slowly closer.
他伸出手，轻轻地碰了一下墙。
He stretch-out hand, softly (ADV) touch (PERF) one bit wall.
He reached out, and softly touched the wall.
然后他不见了。
Then he not see (PERF).
Then he was gone.
那天晚上，男孩的妈妈到处找他，急得哭。

最后她找到了那位老画家。

At last she found the old painter.

She stand at paint front cry: "My (POSS) child! He last is at this (M) paint front see (POSS)!"
She stood weeping before the painting. “My child! This was where he was last seen!”
老人安静地看了她一会儿，然后说：“您放心，我去把他带回来。”
Old-person quietly (ADV) look (PERF) her one moment, then say: "You set-heart, I go (BA) him bring-back-come."
The old man looked at her quietly for a moment, then said, “Don't be afraid. I will bring him home.”
他拿起一支笔，画了一个小小的门，门里有一条又湿又亮的街。

He took up a brush and painted a small door, and behind it a street, wet and gleaming.
他走进了自己的画。

Then he walked into his own painting.
画里的城市和真的城市差不多，可是这里只有下雨的时候才存在。

The city inside the painting was much like the real city, but it existed only when it was raining.
雨在这里下了几百年，从来没停过。
Rain at here fall (PERF) several hundred year, never not stop (EXP).
Here, the rain had fallen for centuries, and had never once stopped.
街上每一个灯都是黄色的，光在水上跳。
Street on every one (M) lamp all is yellow color (POSS), light at water on jump.
Every lamp on the street was warm yellow, its light dancing on the water.
老人慢慢地走，问路上的每一个人：“你看见一个小男孩了吗？”

The old man walked slowly, asking everyone he met, “Have you seen a small boy?”
走了很久，他在一座旧桥下找到了那个孩子。

After a long while, he found the boy beneath an old bridge.
孩子正在和几只湿湿的小猫玩，笑得很开心。

老人坐下来，对他说：“你妈妈在外面等你。”

老人点点头。他在画里画了一辈子，他完全明白这个孩子。

他对孩子说：“不是每一次离开真的世界都是失去。可是你妈妈也是你的世界。”

He said to the boy, “Not every step away from the world is a loss. But your mother is part of your world, too.”
孩子想了很久，慢慢地点了点头。
Child think (PERF) very long, slowly (ADV) nod (PERF) nod head.
The boy thought for a long time, then slowly nodded.
老人拉起他的手，两个人一起走回那扇小门。
Old-person pull-up his (POSS) hand, two (M) person together walk-return that (M) small door.
The old man took his hand, and together they walked back to the little door.
他们出来的时候，那位妈妈还在墙前。
They come-out (POSS) time, that (M) mother still at wall front.
When they stepped out, the mother was still by the wall.
她看见孩子，跑过来把他抱得很紧。

She saw the boy and ran to him, holding him tightly.
孩子哭了，又笑了。

He cried, then he laughed.
可是那个晚上，他没办法睡。他一直说他想念那条下雨的街。
But that (M) evening, he not have method sleep. He continuously say he miss that (M) fall-rain (POSS) street.
But that night, he could not sleep. He kept saying he missed that rainy street.
第二天，老人到了他们家门口。
Second day, old-person arrive (PERF) their family door-mouth.
The next day, the old man arrived at their door.
他给孩子带了一幅新的小画。
He for child bring (PERF) one (M) new (POSS) small paint.
He had brought the boy a small new painting.
画里有那座旧桥，有几只湿湿的小猫，有黄色的灯。
Paint inside have that (M) old bridge, have several (M) wet-wet (POSS) small cat, have yellow color (POSS) lamp.

他对孩子说：“你想念那里的时候，就看看这幅画。”

几年后，那位老人不在了。

Some years later, the old man was gone.
可是城市的旧墙上，他的雨还在下。
But city (POSS) old wall on, his (POSS) rain still (CONT) fall.
But on the old walls of the city, his rain still falls.
那个男孩长大以后，也开始画画。他画的不是雨——他画一个老人和一个孩子，慢慢地一起走过一条很亮的街。
That (M) boy grow-up after, also begin paint-paint. He paint (POSS) not is rain — he paint one (M) old-person and one (M) child, slowly (ADV) together walk-over one (M) very bright (POSS) street.
When that boy grew up, he too became a painter. But he did not paint rain — he painted an old man and a child, walking slowly together down a street alight with rain.
